words leave my side, as you join mine
you hold me up, turn me over, see my every shape
I unravel, a long cord pulled til you find me deep within
I'm happy to tumble in your arms
you blink, and I feel still
there's silence when I look in your eyes
it means so much from you when you show
and your skin blooms and glows and sighs
sounds dance, clap, boom and swing
life seeps in to the air around you
I'm pinched, stroked, swept and spun
how can I be without you?
I like to try and understand the pieces that fall into place
where my limbs shift, click and squeeze into yours
I'm opening slowly to your embrace
and knowing why I love you

I pull the sun across the sky
I watch the shadows sidle across the land
I see the people moving down below
Following the light
Don't they know?
In the dark is when we dance
We throw our arms up
Shake loose the reigns of our chariot
Stamp and clap and let peals of thunder crack along the sky
We join hands and quicken our step
Brew joys in the depths of the dark
And hold the night in our embrace

They never lasted;
the soft wrappings of my emotions would degrade,
flaking away bit by bit with the tides of my thoughts until I was left with unoccupied space around the word I had ascribed to them.
I have felt it creeping into and out of my consciousness for a while now,
like a dripping tap slowly filling a bucket until the water has nowhere left to go and spills out over the edge.

I feel it still -
The rough paving stones beneath my feet
The muggy warmth of a sun, half hidden by clouds
The thick, icy airs between us
Suspended, yet half dropped by choked out words and muted green gazes.
I hear it still -
The way it swims out of your mouth and brain,
Ringing like the impact of metal on stone,
The dull pad of steps on slabs
Softened nothing for me
